mark cool (and the folk stars) radio onslaught continues!
radio airplay continues to grow in the u.s., with "introducing mark cool and the folk stars" charting on the cmj (college music journal) charts. we've been added to the rotation of 139 college/public radio stations across the u.s., and are receiving light to heavy play. we've charted on the cmj charts at #12 (WKBE, in.), #19 (WCVM, morrisville, ny), #3, (KSUB, seattle), and #23 (WECS, willimantic, ct.). other states where it's getting alot of play are: maine, massachusets, ohio, coloado, and iowa, and illinois. exciting!

may concert fun!

tylers tap room private show;
we played a fun private event at tyler's speakeasy in downtown durham, for some friends' law school graduation. i was joined by scott laird on fiddle, and joe cutrufo on percussion. we did a bunch of old-timey stuff, originals from "introducing...", and new songs, and had an enthusiastic response to a cover of 'wagon wheel', by old crow medicine show.
broad street local artist showcase;
we played a local band showcase at broad st. cafe in durham, with 4 other acts including art and nancy, downriver, blue tailed skinks, and when cousins marry. original folk star, rah trost, joined me on djembe and mandolin, and recent boston transplant milton brasher-cunningham sat in on rhythm guitar and backing vocals. the show was great, i enjoyed all of the acts that i saw, and even attempted clogging to the blue tailed skinks!
durham farmer's market;
i played my first durham farmer's market show on the 31st, it was great! lots of little kids dancing and enjoying the music, and people hanging out on the grass and listening. michael bacon joined me on fiddle, and led us in 'old joe clark' and other tunes. joe cutrufo played his last folk star gig (for now), as he's moved back to boston for grad school.
